Birger Jarl is a modern brick hotel built in office block style. It is an outstanding hotel and one of the leading hotels in Stockholm's city center.

The hotel is situated in a residential area in the city centre. It is within walking distance of the shops, museums, theatres and main tourist attractions. The main station is a 15 minute walk, or is 5 minutes by car.

Between 1994 and 1998, all our rooms were completely refurbished. Our aim is to create accommodation to suit both business and leisure travellers. We have designed areas with the working guest in mind - there’s plenty of space, lots of electric sockets, ISDN connections in every room as well as voicemail.

The digital exchange has modular plugs. The hotel also has ISDN lines in every room, though to take advantage of this facility you must ask for it specially at reception. The hotel has chosen to fit every room with a proper desk lamp to make evening working easier.

One of the most important and memorable aspects of staying in a hotel is how well you have slept. When we renovated the rooms, we chose our bed supplier with care. Down pillows and duvets are standard in every room and, of course, there are alternatives for allergy-sufferers. In spite of our central Stockholm location, all guests are not disturbed by noise from the street.

• Twins: the most common room type. The idea behind every room - single, double or suite - is the same. Each can be split into 3 areas - relaxing, working and sleeping.
  As all rooms are successively renovated, their essential Swedish character becomes more and more apparent in the colours, form and design.
• Business Rooms: Here is one of our business rooms. These rooms are specially equipped to give business travellers maximum comfort and peace and quiet in which to work.
• Suites: the suites mirror Swedish form, colour and design. We have tried to create rooms with space for working in comfort as well as being able to thoroughly relax.
